Project Overview
Sloane Curtis successfully delivered a refurbishment at Bourne Wood Manor for Porthaven Care Homes.
The project focused on enhancing key front-of-house spaces within the care home, creating a more welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.
The works were carried out in the reception, foyer and café areas, with careful attention given to finishes, lighting and bespoke joinery.
As with all the Porthaven Care Home jobs, the works were carried out within a live care home environment providing 24-hour care for elderly residents, and those living with dementia. This meant that careful planning and close coordination with the home’s daily operations was crucial.
Scope of Work
Site setup, reception refurbishment, café and foyer refurbishment, bespoke joinery, feature walls, wall finishes, floor finishes, decorative lighting, pendant lighting, wall lighting, reception desk, café servery, access controls, final clean.
Challenge
The main challenge was delivering refurbishment works within important front-of-house areas of an operational care home. The reception, foyer and café are highly visible spaces used by residents, visitors and staff, so it was important that the works were managed safely, neatly and with minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the home.
Solution
We carefully managed the works within the live care home environment, keeping work areas tidy and securely separated while maintaining safe access throughout the project. Careful coordination helped minimise disruption to residents, visitors and staff.
Outcome
The completed refurbishment improved the look and feel of the care home’s main arrival and hospitality areas, helping to create a more comfortable and attractive setting for residents, visitors and staff.
Although relatively small in scale, the project made a meaningful impact on the first impression of the home. The refreshed reception, foyer and café areas now better reflect the quality of the wider care environment, with updated finishes and lighting helping to support a calm, considered and welcoming atmosphere.
